A Message from President Jean

Welcome to the wonderful world of Soroptimist!  Soroptimist is a coined word meaning the best for women.  As an international group of professional service volunteers, we work to enhance and advance the lives of women and girls.  The original club started in Oakland, CA in 1921.  This was at a time when women were feeling stronger and more independent about themselves.  They had come through WWI; they had received the right to vote and now they were interested in moving on toward other goals. Our local club, Soroptimist of Zane Grey Country was chartered in 1975 and has provided funds and services throughout the Rim Country for 35 years.  Our greatest group pleasure comes from raising money and giving it away!  Service is our passion!

Some of our service projects include TIME OUT, Inc., Payson Community Kids, Arizonans for Children, Women's Wellness Forum and Rim Country Literacy Program.  Fund raising activities include an annual Radiothon in October, a Holiday Wine and Cheese Party in December and See's Candies all year long.
